There was literally nothing like this when it dropped. Watching this in the 80’s, then playing Final Fantasy 7 a decade later in the 90’s.

Got home & did a quick one take, blind micro chop live recording unrelated to the movie, but decided to layer the audio with footage I captured to document the special occasion.
Hand drawn, every frame and cell… layered and animated with such intentional vision…. If you ever get a chance to watch the blade runner behind the scenes, That’s another creative vision of all analog set design that inspires me to this day.

Comptemptous Content (Runtime: 9 min)
There’s a pretty unbreakable consistency across time both documented in theme whether it’s via lyrics, artwork, song titles, action, experiences that makes it pretty easy to know what inspires me, or leaves me awe struck, what drives purpose for me etc, and also transparently shows what i consistently both condemn or refuse to participate in.
Not sure if anyone can relate to this, my body and spirit always had a visceral negative reaction to “commercials”. I know why now that I’m older but it kinda boils down to inauthenticity tho it’s more complex. Since my earliest memories, hearing both commercials and news casters gave me what this generation would call the ultimate ick… nails on chalkboard.
There has always been inauthenticity especially when it pertains to culture, I think the trope when it came to music, most would prescribe “mainstream” or popular music.
I’ve never really been the type to just blanket hate on anything because it being mainstream or popular, But I obsessed over broken systems. Most are too young to have experienced life before clearchannel reformatted fm radio in the late 90’s but overnight it basically shifted from diversity to payola resulting in the same dozen songs being played every other hour on loop, basically mind controlling and force feeding “popularity”
Thankfully, while I recognized and obsessed over the existence of that inauthentic broken system, I had the choice of college and public radio, and the internet, and with that I was able to choose to focus on what resonates, even if it wasn’t convenient…. It was worth the extra steps and thankfully there’s multiple decades of evidence that these open systems of organic discovery made the world in terms culture across all mediums a much more rich and diverse and forever evolving and inspirational world for a super fan or nerd of culture to participate in.
There is no greater disruption to organic discovery, meaningful human connection and authenticity than algorithms existing in town squares of human connection and culture. To be continued. - Dutchyyy

It’s actually insane not being new to being an artist on the internet & diving into analytics on socials like SoundCloud, Ig, Twitter, etc. consistent growth + success & most importantly meaningful connections between both artists and fans, and artists and artists.
The first noticeable shift was 2016, when all timelines mixed in random accounts on feeds, clogging it up, the next huge shift was 2020, across all platforms, Growth / Reach completely flatlined, even tho activity increased. Having access to that data, while also having that same timeline and experience echoed by hundreds of prolific artists I know personally, while also see what type of accounts do see growth / reach and also how inconsistent (reach/growth) translates to actual impact or retention.
Just still blows my mind the lack of push back when these apps gamified & rigged the ownership of attention. The universal incentive and narrative never did and still doesn’t make sense. Ask yourself, does it make sense to have an objective of viral growth reaching an “insert vanity metric here” of potential new followers, when you have the data that they purposely suppress you / us from reaching even just 5% of the ones you already have?
Actual black mirror gatcha game 24/7 hahah.
